Ordinary Agents

Your Mission, Should You Choose to Accept It

Location:  Patterson Hall

What do I have to do with Christ’s World-wide Mission? What part does the ordinary believer play in this extraordinary work? It is far too easy for us ordinary Christians to leave the concern for world-missions in the hands of those “Super Christians”—world travelers, street evangelists, and frontier fighters. But reaching the world is not just their mission, it’s actually yours! Join us this spring as we study God’s heart for world-mission, and learn to align our loves with His—in giving, praying, and going.

SCHEDULE

  • April 1 — A Missionary Bible – Jamie Peipon
  • April 8 — A Missionary Christ – Jennings Duncan
  • April 17 — A Missionary Spirit – Owen Hallbach
  • April 22 — A Missionary Faith – Jamie Peipon
  • April 29 — Giving – Chase Wynn
  • May 6 — Praying – Jennings Duncan
  • May 13 — Going – Owen Hallbach

Engaged and Newlywed Class

Whether you are preparing to make your vows or are already walking through the joys and trials of married life, the Engaged and Newlywed Class is designed to equip you with wisdom, grace, and practical tools for marriage. Join us Wednesdays, beginning April 1, at 6 p.m. for a six-week class covering many topics most commonly addressed in premarital counseling. Register by emailing discipleship@fpcjackson.org or simply text Scott or Rose!

D Groups

All Christians in God’s household should feel they belong. We would love for all of our members to be part of a small group Bible study, where they can grow, know and be known. Discipleship Groups are the primary small group ministry at our church, and are open to all ages and stages. Email discipleship@fpcjackson.org to join in!

Evangelism Training

Location: Westminster Hall 304

Jesus said to them: “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to all creation,” Mark 16:15. Do you want to tell others about Jesus Christ but are not sure where or how to begin? Learn to share Christ for the first time; learn a clear, simple, scripture-based presentation of the gospel; and renew your zeal to share Christ at this elective.

Prayer Meeting & Bible Study

Location: The Session Room

Becoming a praying church often begins with setting an appointment for prayer.  Join this group every week for a time of corporate prayer for our church body and its ministries, our community, and our mission.

Adult Choir Rehearsal

Location: Music Suite

The choir consists of volunteers who love to give their time and talent to lead the congregational song. While we have some who are trained professionals, the majority are folks who have simply grown up singing in choirs and feel called to serve here week in and week out.

Our choir sings for both morning worship services each Sunday, with rehearsals on Wednesday evenings from 5:50 p.m. to 7 p.m. The choir membership averages 80-85 people. Membership is open to any who have some gift for singing and a desire to share this gift in worship. Those interested are encouraged to email worship@fpcjackson.org.

College Midweek Book Club

College is full of decisions, big and small, and it’s easy to feel stuck waiting for clarity about God’s will. This semester, our College Book Club will read Just Do Something by Kevin DeYoung, a short, practical book that encourages Christians to stop overthinking, trust God’s sovereignty, and move forward in faithful obedience. Join us at Midweek this spring! Dinner is provided from 5–6 p.m. and is free for all college students participating in a Midweek program, followed by the book club discussion at 6 p.m. in Westminster Hall 302.

Midweek with FPCYM

Our Student Ministry Midweek programs meet in the Youth House as well as the Baird Center Gym for Bible study and hang out time.

Children’s Choirs

Our children’s choirs help children love music and prepare them to sing in worship all their lives. We learn how to read music as well as learn great historic hymns of the Church with texts and tunes that will shape their hearts toward the gospel. Choirs meet on Wednesday evenings from 6-7 p.m. divided by age groups in various locations. Each choir sings at least once a semester in worship services in addition to the annual Christmas program they present. For more information or to register, contact Kimberly Sumrall at KSumrall86@gmail.com.

  • 4’s and 5’s – MB 135 (Kipps’ Class)
  • 1st and 2nd grade – MB 133 (Tree House)
  • 3rd-5th grade – Hutton Chapel

Rise: Sixth Grade Fellowship

Sixth graders are invited to join the Student Ministry in the Youth House on Wednesday, May 6.

Sixth grade is a transitional year here at FPC as our children prepare to graduate from the Children’s Ministry and rise to the Student Ministry. On Wednesdays August-April, our sixth graders have a special Bible study and hang out, meeting on the playground at 5:30 and Study Center 211 at 6 p.m. (They are invited to join the Student Choir which meets on Sunday afternoons.)
