About: Margaret McPhillips

Director of Communications

Margaret grew up in Tupelo, Mississippi. She graduated from the University of Virginia in 2002 and moved to Washington, D.C., where she worked as a Legislative Aide, Press Secretary, and then Communications Director for Senator Thad Cochran and the Senate Appropriations Committee. In 2004, she took a leave of absence from Sen. Cochran’s staff to work on the Bush-Cheney ’04 campaign. There, she met her future husband, Manning McPhillips, of Mobile, Alabama. Margaret and Manning were married in 2007 and, in 2009, moved to Jackson. They started attending First Presbyterian Church shortly after their move and instantly found a home and community at the church. They have four children, Caroline, Henry, Maury, and Virginia, who all attend First Presbyterian Day School.
