“I am the Lord; I have called you in righteousness; I will take you by the hand and keep you; I will give you as a covenant for the people, a light for the nations.”
Isaiah 42:6
Make Your 2024 Missions Pledge
When you give to missions at First Presbyterian Church, you are giving not only to the mission of our particular church, but the mission that God has given to the global Church.
As we think about giving to missions, it is important for you to know that we do not have a single dollar to give to missions outside of dollars you give over and above your regular tithe to our specific designation for missions. In other words, every single dollar we send to our missionaries arrives at the church as a gift designated for missions. The beauty of this separate missions account is the opportunity it gives us to be especially bold and generous when it comes to funding the very mission of the church. The work of missions around the world is so important to us that we do not limit our mission giving by making it a percentage of our annual budget.
Our mission and outreach committees have worked hard for many years to identify a faithful, focused, and far-reaching slate of gospel workers to support, including 60+ global missionaries, 10+ campus ministers, and 15+ North American church planters. In order to continue supporting them as we do now, it is our goal and prayer to raise one million dollars for missions.
How will we accomplish this goal? First, we need to ask God to fan into flames a desire to see the lost won for Christ in and through our church. We also need everyone’s participation. You’ll notice that the missions pledge cards include financial commitments as well as a commitment to pray. Even if you have never pledged before, would you please submit one this year? If your current circumstances are such that there is no margin to give over and above your tithe, please do pledge to pray. And if you have never given to missions before, I would like to challenge you to make this the year that you pledge to faithfully give.
Let me just encourage you to start… you can start small. We are a large church, and many hands make light work. The reality is that if only about half of our members committed to giving $65 per month, we will reach our goal of $1,000,000 for missions this year. Some of us can do more than that, and others of us might have fewer resources… but let’s all agree to work towards this goal together.
In order to support global missions and missions in North America, a donation must be designated as a “missions” gift. This can be done by making a note on your check or by choosing “missions” when you give online or through our app. Give to the 2023-2024 fiscal year missions fund here.
