Women’s Bible Study | Genesis

Genesis is not, as some Christians believe, just a strange foreshadowing of Christian truth; it is the very foundation of the faith on which the truth taught in the rest of the Bible is built. One author has written, “almost every important church doctrine is found in ‘seed’ form in the Book of Genesis.” The Book of Genesis is the beginning of the story of history, not just the history of the world, but our history as Christians. It causes us to marvel at the majesty of God in His creative power, in His loving mercy and faithfulness, in His judgment, and in His life-giving hope. It traces His covenant promise of a Redeemer from the Seed of the Woman, and how God preserved that seed through thousands of years of sin and rebellion against Him. Genesis is the beginning of the gospel – the story of the Bible. It shows us again and again that God is the Sovereign King of this world, and His plan of redemption will not fail.
