SUMMARY:Mississippi Valley Presbytery Day of Prayer and Fasting
DESCRIPTION:The 53rd General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in America\, acting upon the overture of the Presbytery of the Mississippi Valley\, calls our denominations to a solemn day of fasting and prayer for the revival and renewal of the church. As we humble ourselves before the Lord\, we are invited to fast\, pray\, repent of our sins\, mourn the spiritual poverty and divisions of the church\, and seek God’s mercy and blessing. We will also pray for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit\, faithful preaching of the Word\, the conversion of the lost\, the planting of faithful churches\, the spread of the gospel\, and the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. \nRead the letter from General Assembly and the call to fasting and prayer. \nWe invite all who would join us\, to worship\, fast\, and pray. Join us Monday\, September 21 as we seek the Lord’s face while He may be found! \nWhy fast?\nFasting fixes our hearts on heaven\, sharpens our prayers\, and humbles us in dependence upon the Lord. When we fast together\, these graces are shared and strengthened in the body. Therefore\, the Presbytery of the Mississippi Valley invites all who would join us\, to worship\, fast\, and pray. Let us seek the Lord’s face while He may be found. \nIf health considerations prevent you from fasting from food\, we still encourage you to join us for our worship services (12 and 6 p.m.) and to set aside the day for intentional prayer. For those who might need refreshment during the event\, we will have water and snacks available. \nPrayer Guide\nWe will have a prayer guide available for those who join in person at Highlands. Can’t join us in person? Download the prayer guide here. \nDetails\nSeptember 21\n9 a.m.-5:45 p.m. — Discussion & Prayer\n12 p.m. — Midday Worship Service with Dr. David Irving\, President\, RTS-Jackson\n6 p.m. — Evening Worship Service with Dr. David Strain\, Senior Pastor\, FPC Jackson \nRSVP below to help us plan for the event. \nWe would love for you to share this event with your church family. Download here! \nQuestions?\nContact Stephen Dahl\, Pastor\, FPC Belzoni.
